The playerbase is not ready for 8 man parties. Balor will come soon so we will have an 8 raid party meaning again.
If the playerbase is bigger, then I might agree. For now, its a 'fitting'solution.
Part of the player count dropping was the removal of 8-man. Putting it back in with an option to set 4, 6, or 8 would allow people to continue to run small parties if they like, but have the frame work for if numbers ever return to anything reasonable. Again, I don't think that would happen because it would mean the Director admitting his decisions were wrong, and so far he's refused to go back on a single one. (less)
Let's just be clear on what the issue is instead of arguing semantics. Nexon presented the boxes as though all items had equal chance and there was no weighting present. That was not the … (more)case, and as probabilities varied by item, they simply should have posted the odds as they had been doing for the past two years or so. It seems that they were up to something out of sorts by suddenly not publishing rates anymore in their games.
I do know this: I would not trust that whatever pseudo random generator Nexon uses isn't artificially altered to produce rates of lesser prizes than statistics would suggest. As pointed out with the "old" +10-15 boxes that we've received for the past two events, the number of rolls higher than +10 have been next to non-existent. What we see with Nexon's gotcha boxes is out of sorts, and as many times as they've been caught now with issues from embezzlement to false advertising to abandoning a game without saying a word to the players beforehand I wouldn't give them another penny.
I have no doubt that with Maple Story 2 about to launch that the company will continue to stay afloat. With the new laws people in the east and west certainly aren't going to accept RNG boxes when people in the EU as a whole will likely be able to direct purchase all cash shop items. The practices will change in the end no matter what, but I'm completely done supporting Nexon in any way, and have been for a while. I'll continue enjoying their delicious combat until it's time to move on, though. (less)
3 years to find some big changes. Firstly that gear drops straight from bosses which is just wild but a welcome edition, and that older content can be soloed. But I do have some other questions. I have been having fun getting to the latest content.
Firstly that I notice a lot of players have +13 weapons... like an oddly large number. Is there a rune to protect it to +13? My rune only protects up to +10.
Secondly, most things are pretty straight forward, except on how to attain certain items. For instance, old Elchulus items like my Gnarled Obelisk or other dragon weapons that aren't a part of Heide. I'm sure I'll have more questions later, but that's all for now to get me started again. Thanks!
I don't think there's a comprehensive guide for all weapons anymore, but you can check the guide linked above as one of them in that section should contain most of them. Heremon and such still drop from the old bosses as before. Many weapons actually drop from bosses regularly and easily now. Some, however, are only via expertise, so you'll have to find a weaponsmith/goldsmith to craft them for you. (less)
