I do the same - I play on steam - but it is still possible to login for events. For me the login is the email tied to the steam account on which I play, but the password is the one I … (more)set before I started playing on steam and was using the nexon launcher.
So yeah, its a little convoluted, but that's how it is. If you can't login, it's probably because you're using your steam password instead of the original nexon password. Try to reset it.
To keep this post on track, I should add that if you logged off and plan on loggin back in to get the +12 gear, make sure to wait 31 days. Someone in another post logged back in at … (more)exactly 30 days and they didn't receive gear, so the event description is incorrect and really means 30+ (31 or more) days.

My only guess for not doing it at this point is they lack the technical staff and/or competence to do it.
