  • Do not Use or Exchange for Gear Protection Rune

The thing about this rune is you have to give up something else to get it.

Most people would rather have more +11 runes than this.

  • Any KR players here?

That change is really only going to help veterans that are gearing up alts or their friends who are starting new characters. Its not going to help new players get geared up for s3.

Think about it. You are a new player. You work your way up to level 80 and get the free level 80 gear. At this point, practically all the drops you get are worthless with the exception of powders (which you need) and elixirs (which you also need). So you cant reliably get money unless you get lucky with an enthus ES from hero succubus or something (Yea right).

You might have 15-16k ATT or so, but how are you going to do s3 content? How are you even going to do level 80 s2 raids, given that they are balanced for people with +10 level 80 weapons? Even muir without a +10 and attack capped stats is annoying for most characters (sword vella, etc, need not apply). Your only options are basically to get carried hard...or get carried slightly less in s1 raids.

Most players are in end game and wont touch s1 raids. Most end game players also prefer s3 raids because they are more rewarding than s2 raids. Without IRL friends to help carry you for the approx 1 month you need to get 350 seals to NPC craft a OJ level 90 weapon, you are basically screwed.

This is currently the wall blocking new players. The free gear helps a lot, although it also has negative consequences (level 80 and below mats become worthless except to people leveling prof). The main issue is that to be useful in raids, you need a +10 weapon of the same level, which a new player has no ability of getting on their own, unless they are willing to spend a lot of NX (not likely). S3 quest bosses are all balanced for people with +10 level 90s and attack capped stats, even if you have 18-19k attack courtesy of the +9 event gear, some of them are very annoying to solo.

Technically a new player -might- be able to farm enough elixirs to make enough gold to buy a level 90 weapon...but they still wouldnt be able to get the stones to enhance it, and most new players would simply give up and quit instead of farming the same battle for ages. And most players in end game are hoarding gold for material synthesis and would rather farm elixirs themselves rather than spend gold buying it...

Why are people using bingo pouches now? You risk getting numbers that you will get automatically in the remaining days.

Probably they blacked it out already and now they're going for 3-5 line bingo?

Wouldnt it be better to blackout via guaranteed bingo numbers first, then spam pouches to see what bingos you can get after? I guess it makes no difference probability wise...

ima pretty new player, comming from wow, gw2 and blade and soul. these were all different gear methods for the endgame. i must say when i heared about permanet destruvtion of endgame gear i was a little scared, this would be too demoralizing to me. and im only lvl 70 so im not even there yet and cant rly give an opinion. but jsut the thought that i have to pay hundreds of millions for a good endgame weapon and there will be 50'% chance my weapon breaks permanently makes me dont even want to touch the game anymore.

im sure there are real money ways to get what you want, but this whole system seems kinda weird to me. so my endgame would pretty much just be trying to retain a good weapon just to gamble it away with the next enchantment. im sure i didnt understand the system completely yet. but what i gathered so far is rly turning me off tbh

The permanent destruction is mainly when you try to enhance a weapon past +10 without special, very expensive, time limited runes. You can always use enchant runes to protect your gear.

In theory, you dont "need" to go beyond +10. In reality, the game massively encourages it. Attack speed and the attack cap mean that after you get your enchants sorted out, you pretty much need to go beyond +10 to improve your gear, especially for slow characters that need lots of attack speed. This is especailly true because bosses in season 2 and beyond are designed for parties near or at the attack cap...+10 level 60 weapons were sufficient for roch raids and was easy to get the mats for, +10 level 90 oj weapons without full enchants do nearly no damage in s3 raids and are much harder to make. People are therefore encouraged to gamble their weapons...more often than not, they lose and they rage quit because it would cost too much (in terms of gold, time or NX) to make a replacement.

Most veterans have seen countless people rage quit over the years....what nexon/devcat doesn't seem to care is that this is contributing to a smaller playerbase and lower longterm profitability. It's like a restaurant surprise charging you for tap water on the bill...yea sure, you get more money straight up, but you lose customers in the long run.

I've lost count of the people I have seen that spend a massive amount of money on multiple outfits, cosmetic items, pets, etc, etc, that all rage quit because they blew their weapons up. Where are these people now? Playing games like BDO, blade and soul, TERA, etc....and not coming back. Most of them told me the same thing : they hate the permanent item destruction, the reliance on once in a month lucky drops to make any amount of gold, the focus on high enhanced weapons because +10 doesn't cut it anymore. One Lann that i know of blew up like 8 pairs of +10 spears permanently and now hates Nexon with a passion and I know a Kai who is on the verge of quitting because he can't make a +12 or higher crossgun despite failing like 6 times.

Look at BDO, they dont have permanent item destruction, yet they are making money that nexon can only dream about (from vindictus alone) and doing far more with player attraction and retention that Vindictus ever has.

  • Did they change the dialogue for Ingkells?

Yea, the original dialogue was definately better.

At some point they decided to retcon the s1 storyline. It used to be Tieve who was the one who was kidnapped by the lizardmen, and Seanna was introduced at the end of s1 as the replacement oracle for Colhen.

It's now been retconned so that Seanna gets kidnapped in s1 instead of Tieve, but Tieve is still the prophesized oracle. Which feels much less natural, because the entire reason why Tieve got kidnapped was so that the Lizardmen could confirm whether she was the prophesized oracle.

At the same time, they rewrote a shitload of dialogue. Im not sure why exactly. Many of the rewritten parts weren't related to the s1 retcon at all. Might have been related to reducing the amount of side quests (to streamline the early game for new players), but rocheste was also rewritten even though it wasn't streamlined.

Some significant changes in the s1 storyline (going off memory here):

-Aodhan is now gungho about attacking the gnolls in perilious ruins

-Instead of Gwynn saying the royal army and crimson blades would each explore one approach to hoarfrost hollow, you get told to do both

-Ellis's role in the storyline is now massively reduced (a lot fewer scenes and dialogue), nor is he the one to get you to go to AInle in the first place.

-Kirstie doesnt beg you for time so that she can investigate the ruins of sanctity. Nor does she reveal that you were tricked into killing the red gnoll in Perilious Ruins.

-The start of hoarfrost depths now has you rescue the caravan carrying the artifact, instead of only hearing about the attack afterwards and being told to find the artifact.

-When Riodran returns after the failed mission to kill Ezroch, he no longer expresses dismay/disbelief when Gwynn volunteers you to kill Ezroch because he doesn't believe that you could do it when all those soldiers failed. His reaction now is like "Yea okay if you want to become a cadet you go do it".

-They fixed the typo/translation error in the hilder forest flashback, it used to say that "Gwynn took the bloody shade" but is now fixed so that it says Aodhan. But they still didn't fix the copy and paste error where Ingkells keeps repeating "If everyone is here, I will now explain the operation".

-When Brakis tells you to go get beer for him and you get caught by Riodran, he no longer yells about their captain running off to hide or says that you were obviously tricked into buying the beer. He now just confiscates the beer and assumes you were acting under orders.

-When Blawynn criticises Gwynn for abandoning the soldiers at the start of Colhen in Flames, she now reacts more calmly and orders her to stay and find as many soldiers as she can. IIRC, she used to yell at Blawynn more and then order that everyone go to help Colhen.

-Keaghan now mentions Tarrasque ripping the fomor's hearts out of their chests at the start of Colhen in Flames, pretty sure that line used to be absent.

-Riodran is no longer dismayed at the attack on Colhen, he used to go "It's impossible...even with Keaghan..." or something to the effect, he just says "It's too late, even with Keaghan's beast."

-When Gwynn introduces you to Keaghan after colhen in flames, he now says "You seem like you have a good head on your shoulders for someone who's suposed to be a rookie!". This seems quite unnatural since nobody mentioned you were a rookie before.

-When black hammer is talking to Verafrim about how there is only one last piece of the contract left (before you start Larken), he says "Keep watch here. I will let Shakarr know of our plans." This seems like a translation error, he used to say that they must not let Shakarr know of their plans (to kill him), it makes no sense now that he will tell Shakarr of their plans. After you defeat Larken, Shakarr has no idea at all, so he was obviously not told of any plans involving the contract/titan.
