The event dialogue states that the event will return in the future and that you can get more essences then. So this will be a recurring event, just hold onto the essences.
The essences don't have an expiration date, the tickets, however, do.

Farming for materials for element stones is always an option for money. You can also get some scrolls like Passion from Season 2 raids to get some bonus gold.

As per their own post on the news page, the issue has been fixed, so you shouldn't have to worry about that anymore. As for what it was... no idea, I haven't heard anything about it and don't know of anyone who has so far.
All those moves are part of Scythe DPS rotation, so we can't really not use them, sadly. Just do what Yagamin suggested and change other player effects, cus that's all you can really do.
(Or hope with me for a scythe revamp soon pls)
