The playerbase is indeed smaller than in year's past, but we're still here. Since you're returning you're probably unaware of the QuickBattle system that's used to make parties nowadays. At least half the people afk'ing in town are people that can't host, so they wait around to be notified via the QB system that parties are starting.
You're not going to find parties until level 90+. After the RISE update, season 1 and 2 was reworked to be solo content. Even Season 3 normal dungeons are for the most part solo. It's in the level 90, 95, and 100 raids that you'll find boats and people. Again, many of these boats use the QB system. I'd go into more detail but my time is short atm. I'm sure other forum regulars can fill in and better explain.
Macha can ignore and hit through the 10 second invincibility buff one receives while transforming.
As you can see in this video, I transform, gain the buff, but Macha still hits through it. I tested this on Dullahan as well, and he doesn't ignore the invincible buff, so it seems that this is isolated with Macha.
I'm not sure if this is character specific, or if it has anything to do with the fact that I skip the transformation cutscene with FI. I'll have to test tomorrow and see if she can hit you through the regular transformation cutscene as well. Anyone else experiencing this?
EDIT: Confirmed that even when transforming the normal way, she can still damage you. You are invincible during the cut-scene portion, but can still be hit during the 3-4 leftover seconds after the scene finishes.
They finally changed the narrated character introductions from the cheesy half assed backstories told by a terrible VA. They now detail some actual information about the character and their capability. They even have differing descriptions based on which weapon you peview!
I like how the three new "BasicA" accounts that liked your post were all made today. I'm terribly sorry for your snowflake syndrome. I wish you godspeed in getting the help you need.
