  • Improving Vindictus's Difficulty post-RISE

Apologies for reviving an old suggestion, but I just thought of something that might make this game more replayable, and it's related to difficulty.

Remember how Season 3 introduces gear that includes skills like "Siglint Lightning" or "Cheerful Footsteps?" What if we applied using these skills with obtaining and using full sets of armor and weapons?

I'll give a few examples below:

Example 1: Titan drops Dark Crest armor and Dreamwalker weapons. Wearing both into battle will unlock a Quick Slot skill called Titan's Rage. When activated, all enemies within a certain area of each party member will have 0 crit applied to their attacks for 1 minute (same as Titan's main debuff, "Dullness"). This skill costs a full SP bar and has a cooldown timer of 20 minutes.

Example 2: Wearing full Armegeddon gear and wielding an Armageddon weapon will unlock a skill called The Flames of Anywnn. When activated, all party members will suddenly burst into flames and begin taking burn damage equal to their Power Stat every second for 1 minute. The burn damage is then converted into their Att./M. Att points, which increases by their Power Stat points every second over 30 seconds. As the flames subside, each player's Att./M. Att points will return back to their original stats every second over 30 seconds. Activating this skill costs a full SP bar and has a cooldown timer of 20 minutes.

Example 3: Wearing Astera gear and wielding an Astera weapon will unlock a skill called The Goddess's Blessing. When activated, every party member's Counterforce will increase by the geared player's CF stats divided by the number of members in the party (i.e. the Astera-geared player with a CF of 120 activates The Goddess's Blessing in a 4-player battle, causing all player's CF points to increase by 30). This skill is useful for helping players with less CF be able to deal damage to the Astera bosses. Activating this skill costs a full SP bar, has a cooldown timer of 20 minutes, and lasts only for 1 minute.

Example 4 (had to include this one): Wearing any Glas gear (Raider's or Terminus Sentinel) will grant every player a skill called Feather of the Winged Angel. Activating this skill will allow the player to fly for 1 minute. Controlling your character in the air is the same as controlling your character on the ground. You still attack using the left and right mouse buttons, and Quick Slot skills can still be activated in the air. This skill is very useful for attacking enemies that just love to hang out in the air (I'm looking at you, Elchulus). This skill costs a full SP bar to use and has a cooldown timer of 20 minutes. Keep in mind that if the effect runs out while you are still in the air, you will take fall damage if you are not near the ground. Wearing back slot wings will also have an animation associated with this skill. :)

These are just some ideas for Gear Skills. Players will want to collect every piece of gear to see what skills they can bring into battle. Plus, the combinations will make for some really exciting moments in battle (For example, Imagine coming up with a strategy for taking down Macha by using Feather of the Winged Angel and The Goddess's Blessing while she is hovering in the air, Of course, balancing these skills will be key to maintaining most of the game's combat mechanics. Fusion Runes can be used if a player wants a specific look with a specific Gear Skill. Let me know what you think of this suggestion and the original suggestion.

    Improving Vindictus's Difficulty post-RISE

Since the RISE update, difficulty levels have received mixed responses, which degrade the game overall. New players love the lower difficulty for story and gear progression while veteran players hate it because the game is now "too easy," especially in Season 1 & 2 missions. Many players want to enjoy all the battles that Vindictus has to offer but not get bored because of how easy enemies get killed in one move. So how do you fix this? Well, I propose a possible solution: Difficulty Customization.

    What is Difficulty Customization?

Difficulty Customization is the ability to set the battle to a difficulty on a sliding scale based on the following:
    1. Party size (1-4)
    2. Gear level (on a scale from 1-max level. The lowest level is set depending on what level is required to unlock that mission)
    3. Actual Difficulty (on a scale of 1-10)

Instead of forcing players to play on one difficulty (i.e. Easy Mode for Season 1), every battle can be completely unique in terms of difficulty. You want Gnoll Cheiftain to be as tough as Dullahan? You could allow players to do that if this idea becomes real!

    How does Difficulty Customization work?

Difficulty Customization is broken down into three multipliers: Party, Gear, and Actual Difficulty.

    - When a player unlocks a Story Mission, they have the option to set the difficulty to the lowest setting to make story completion easier. For example, if a player was battling Season 1 Glas for the first time, they can set the boat to the lowest difficulty level: 1-player, Level 65 (because Season 1 Glas is unlocked at level 65), and Actual Difficulty: 0. This would be Glas's difficulty as it is right now in-game post-RISE.

    - If players want a more intense battle, the host can raise the difficulty to the following example settings: 4-players, Level 100 (i.e. max level), Difficulty: 10 (the max setting). This translates to the following:

Party Size: All enemies will have 4x as much health (one for each player); this includes raid bosses!
Note: You can still solo on 4-player difficulty if you so choose.
Gear Level: The DEF of monsters will be set to a number where only the minimum level gear stat can break through. In other words, if you
choose Gear Level 95 for, say, Gnoll Assembly Area, imagine fighting 100 gnolls but each gnoll has the same DEF as enemies in Donegal
    (Season 3, Ch. 2, Episode 3)!
Difficulty Multiplier: Attack Dmg/Att. Speed/Crit/Crit Dmg/ are multiplied by a factor of 10! Think of this like Season of Macha back in the old days. Now THAT is what I call a challenge!

    - The host can set the battle to max difficulty or minimum difficulty by sliding the scales all the way up or all the way down for each criteria.
    - The host can also set the Party Size and Gear Level difficulty to a party average (e.g. Att./Magic Att., DEF, Crit, Balance, etc.) by selecting "Party Average." The game will then average all stats and match the difficulty with the stats of the party. The host can then make the battle even more difficult with setting the Actual Difficulty level.

How do you reward players for completing battles on higher difficulties?

The current model of receiving drops is completely luck-based. You get a random drop that is, in most cases, useless, which brings frustration to players who have spent a majority of their time getting nothing out of their struggles against various foes. With that being said, playing on higher difficulties can increase more chances of getting better drops. Here is the table for how drops can be calculated:

    - Party Size: The bigger the party, the more quantity of drops there will be. This encourages players to play with each other for more drops.

    - Gear Levels: Specific equipment will still drop from enemies that share the same design inspiration (e.g. Dullahan armor/weapons from Dullahan). However, instead of limiting weapons and armor with stats suited to that level, every piece of armor/weapon can be customized like Season 3's crafting system. By increasing the difficulty via Gear Level difficulty, you'll increase the stats of essences you receive. For example, you can have Raider's armor that matches stats with the current level 95 gear if you play on Gear Level 95 difficulty.

    - Difficulty Multiplier: The number of the multiplier corresponds with the amount of gold each player will receive. So if you play it safe on difficulty 1, you'll earn the minimum gold amount for the battle. But if you challenge yourself on difficulty 10, you'll receive 10x the amount of gold if you clear the battle!
Example: If you clear a battle that gives 300k gold on difficulty 10, you will instead receive 3M gold!

    What about Royal Army Raids?

Unless anyone has a suggestion, this option would be unavailable due to the complex nature of matching players within a dedicated server.

    What about Redeemer's?

Since Redeemer's is an 8-player raid and only offers one drop from clearing the battle, only Actual Difficulty will be available. Additional Boxes of Conviction will be rewarded x the Actual Difficulty level. So, if you defeat a Redeemer's battle on Actual Difficulty 2, you will receive two Boxes of Conviction instead of one. Pretty cool, wouldn't you say? Of course, you'll probably want to stick to Difficulty 1 or 2 since Redeemer's Mode is the most challenging aspect of Vindictus and can be even more insane if you allow, for example, Neimhain to attack you 2x faster and harder.

If you have any suggestions on improving this idea, please feel free to leave a comment in this thread. I would love to see this game become more fun, and I believe this idea can bring more replay-ability to this game! :)

  • ★ NA Server Merge Celebration Photo Day ★

Obviously, original post said to suggest dates, times, and location for the photo shoot. However, we don't exactly know when the Server Merge is gonna happen. Also, what works for people who live in the East region won't work for the other regions. Nevertheless, here's what will work for me:

Best day of week: Friday, some Saturdays, or Sunday
Time: Late afternoon and evening (4PM - midnight EST)
In-game location: Rocheste Field (It's a largest area in the game)

Once we know when the server merge will happen, having a poll up asap will help. :)

  • [OFFICIAL] Dullahan Speedrun Team Registration

    Ae4tEtt.png

This thread is reserved for team registration for the Dullahan Speedrun Tournament. If you want to discuss about the tournament itself, please post in the Official 2017 Vindictus Halloween Party thread.

To register for this event, follow these steps in order (if you already have your Twitch channel setup, skip to Step 5):

    1. Download a streaming app such as OBS, Xsplit, etc.
    2. Under “Settings” in OBS, choose “Stream” and enter your stream key from Twitch. Select Twitch as your service. Be sure the server you select is the closest to your location. I'm not sure where the settings are for XSplit, but I'm sure it's very similar.
    3. Set the bitrate at a level that is appropriate for your Internet connection under “Output.” The bitrate should be around 2000 to 3000 mbps.
    4. Under “Video,” set the output resolution to “1280x720”
    5. Download LiveSplit and set a hotkey to Start/Stop the timer. My recommendation would be to use either the F1, F4, or CapsLock button.
    6. Create a scene that capture Vindictus and LiveSplit (please no webcams, background music, alerts, or chat boxes for this event). My recommendation would be to place the LiveSplit timer somewhere where there is empty space. An example in this UI setup would be between the Quickslot bar and the bottom of the Chat box.

      p5lojS5.jpg

    7. Submit a Twitch highlight of yourself fighting Dullahan with LiveSplit, starting the timer when Dullahan’s HP bar appears and stopping the timer when Dullahan’s HP bar reaches 0.
    8. Are you interested in participating? Let one of the streamers who submitted their highlights know that you are interested in joining their team.
    9. Streamers, edit your submission post to include the other teammates’ IGNs and character classes. (See below for an example submission). Please review the rules for the tournament before finalizing your teams.

    Setting Up Your Team's Run

One player per team will do the following:

    • Set up a Twitch account
    • Download LiveSplit. This is a program that is used by many speedrunners on Twitch. The program is basically a fancy stopwatch, and it is free to download. You may create splits for completing segments of a run and compare your run to other players. For this event, you do not have to create splits. All that matters is the final time. You may set any key on your keyboard as your Start/Stop global hotkey for LiveSplit.
    • Download a streaming app (OBS, XSplit, etc.), enter your stream key from Twitch to link your channel to your streaming app, and create a scene, capturing your game and LiveSplit. My recommendation is to place your timer on the lower-left side next to the chat box.
    • Submit a link to a highlight of a full run of Dullahan on the Official Dullahan Speedrun Tournament Team Registration thread along with your Twitch channel name and server. A list of players who will be streaming their team’s run will be formed in this thread.

Note: The submission of your full run is not what will be used for the actual event. This is to prove that you can stream the run, and this helps me set up your team's run along with other players in real time (or with the Twitch delay xD). Here’s an example of what I’m going for except the timer will be exclusive to each team's run: A Link to the Past 4-Player Speedrun

    How Teams Will Form

Teams of 4 players will be formed with 3 players joining the one player who is streaming the run. The player who submitted the highlight will edit their post to include a list of all 4 team members; this includes their IGN and character/class (e.g. KidIcarus - Sword Lann). Players may confer with each other to come up with a team name if they wish. Otherwise, a list of players and the server region will be used.

    Who Competes?

All NA servers can compete! This includes East, West, AUS, and EU!

    Streamer is Team Leader

The player who is streaming your team’s run must be present at the Halloween party. They do not have to host the boat, but if the streamer is not present by the time your team is up, your team will be disqualified because I have no means to track your team's time for the competition. The more teams we have, the more exciting this event will be!

    Who Goes When?

The order for which team goes when will be randomized. I will post the order shortly after the cutoff time for team registration so your team can plan. The races will take place from 6:00PM to however long it takes depending on how many teams we have. Four teams will run at the same time. Be sure all team members are ready to go. If a member of your party is missing when your team is up for the run, the team will have to do the speedrun with less players, which will put the group at a significant disadvantage.

    Will I Be Participating?

Sadly, I will not participate in this event myself since I have to manage it. However, if we reach at least 200 viewers at any point during the stream, I will battle Dullahan with a team wearing NO ARMOR (Only my weapon and accessories will be equipped) at the end of the party! RIP me! :s

    Rules:
    • Time starts when Dullahan’s HP bar appears. Time stops when his HP bar reaches 0.
    • You may use any means necessary to revive yourself. This includes Goddess Graces. However, every 4 Goddess Graces used will result in 15 seconds being added to your team's final time. The goal for this rule is to promote skill in suriviving the battle and using Phoenix Feathers/Guild Feathers/Evie Revivals (when applicable).
    • You may use transformations during the speedrun.
    • You may use any artifact you wish.
    • You may use any consumables you wish. However, you may NOT use damage increase potions or stimulants. These items have been found to create an unfair advantage for certain classes. It will be difficult to enforce this rule since I cannot check in-game, but if it is found that a damage potion or stimulant was used during the run, your team will be disqualified. Show good sportsmanship for all teams, and un-equip these consumables before going into battle so you are not tempted to use them. (Credit to Blyat & Leucosie for this rule)
    • You may use pets (but seriously, why would you? ;) ).
    • Your team cannot be 3 or 4 of the same character (e.g. 2 Crossgun Kais & 2 Bow Kais, or 3 Fionas and a Staff Evie). Furthermore, only one Karok per team (because 2 or more Karoks make this raid absolutely broken with his clashing mechanic). This prevents teams from having an unfair advantage due to possible imbalances with certain characters in this raid. For clarification, you can have, for example, two Scythe Evies, one Sword Lann, and one Spear Lann. Form your teams wisely! (Credit to JynXi for this rule)
    • If even one player manages to stay alive during the entire run, your team will receive a huge 30 second deduction from your final time. Don’t get rekt by the boss! ;)

    Prize: TBA in October

    Who: All NA servers/Twitch

When: 6:00PM EST (1 hour after the start of the party)

    vk7iDg2.png

I will ask a total of 10 trivia questions related to Vindictus on my Twitch stream. The first person to give the correct answer will receive one ticket. Every person in Twitch chat will receive one ticket for being in chat, and the more tickets you collect, the greater your chances of winning. The prize? 10k NX!

    5imLjgG.png
    • Server Group Photo
    • Cosplay Group Photo (Any players who have a cosplay for their character may participate in the photo shoot)
    • Pictures will be posted on Vindictus social media at the discretion of the GMs
When: After the Dullahan Speedrun Tournament (around peak time)
Where: The Road between Colhen and Rocheste, Channel 1

    quYlJtV.png

This year's Halloween Party will invite all servers to participate in a gallery walk, either in-game on East server or through Twitch. If you have a cosplay that you would like to show off in-game on stream, meet us in Ch. 1 Rocheste by the stairs leading to Rocheste Castle. I will host a costume contest for all servers to participate in. You may either be present on East server in your costume or, if you're on a different server, you may send a screenshot of your character in costume through a whisper through Twitch along with the category you are submitting for. You may only sign up one costume per category. The categories for this year's costume contest are:
    • Scariest Costume
    • Silliest Costume
    • Sexiest Costume (excluding Inner Armor only)
    • Best Combination of Gear
    • Best Cosplay

To avoid delays, when a category is called, the judges will begin judging the costumes 2 minutes after the announcement and make a decision 10 minutes after. Judges will be myself, GMs (maybe), and other players who volunteer. I will need a total of 5 judges for this event. If you are interested, you'll be compensated for helping. The winner of each category will receive 10k NX!

There is also an incentive for showing up to the gallery walk. You will be able to participate in the final event of the party. :)

Where: Rocheste Castle steps, Ch. 1 / Twitch

When: After the East Server photo shoot

    ETgp2BD.png

Last year, I hosted a PvP tournament that was intended to be for cosplayers only. This year, the tournament will have a registration requirement of having a costume for your character. For example, you can be Naruto, the Incredible Hulk (shoutout to Nyterminator ;) ), or a scary mummy. In other words, It can't be generic (for example, sorry but no Karoks in pink speedos ;) ); it needs to be a costume. Bragging rights are on the line in this hilarious yet very intense event.

    Logistics:

    • Anyone who is interested in participating in the tournament must show up at the cosplay gallery walk on East server. You will not be entered in the bracket if you do not show up and present yourself in your costume.
    • At the gallery walk, I will ask if anyone would like to compete in the PvP tournament. At that time, send an in-game message to me via the mailbox with a message of interest ("I'm in!") and your cosplay reference if you have one (i.e. My costume is "so-and-so" from "blah blah blah")
    • Every player who participates will be assigned a number. The bracket pairs will be determined by RNG to make tournament order as fair as possible.
    • If you would like to use a weaker weapon to balance your stats against your opponent, that would be a very kind thing to do on stream. It would also make the fights more exciting! :)
    • Each bracket round is Best of 3 matches. In other words, if each player wins one round, the 3rd round will decide who moves on.
    • There will be no Losers bracket. If you are out of the tournament, you are free to go. Feel free to stick around and watch the tournament or battle each other in another PvP Arena channel, but if there's a large number of combatants who will be fighting next, I will ask you to leave the Channel 1 Arena to make room for those who are competing (You can still watch the matches on Twitch).
    • Overall, just have fun. Do fight your hardest to make this event exciting to watch, but also be mindful of who you are fighting against and show good sportsmanship. :)

    Where: PvP Arena Ch. 1

When: After the Gallery Walk (around 10:00PM EST)

    Prize:
    1st: 10M gold
    2nd: 5M gold
    3rd/4th: 2.5M gold

Along with all of these events, feel free to chat, "dance," cheer, and just have a good time. With that said, inform your friends about the party, cook up a snack and sit back (or take part) in the 2017 Vindictus Halloween Party, starting on October 21st at 5:00PM EST. See you guy then!
