kr usually gets a new character announcement when we're about to get someone, maybe out of backwards jealousy or spite. and the april fools character were a joke, but the hype was real, so they actually got made.
the father tease doesnt seem like a joke, since they added 'stay tuned...' and in eiras backstory, the father was sick and unaccounted for. he could have easily died or something, but they left it open. maybe he stumbles into colhen to get healed by evie.
