Passing

I split on concrete, black and white
I see your face
I reach across an ocean to fading light
Stay in place
Were you ever here, some faulting flooring
Were you passing
Walk too many miles hoping for a while
For a passing

You cut harder and harder older time growing
I can not remember
Your scent of rush roses, your shadowed demons
You are always shelter
Your wants, your opinions
Late nights in the summer
You are no ones life-long, too alone
I can not remember

Across a frozen lake, your blizzard silhouette
Disappearing footsteps
I can walk for days, stay in the same place
Disappearing footsteps
Upon a melting lake, broken bridge
That is where you will find me
Faulting floorings, no one is going
That is where I will be me

Find me here in passing, should you wish to find me...

    Demons

    It was raining heavily
We all crowded on Lake and Hennepin
    Watch the waves from Calhoun
Stretch further than they have ever been
    Most were terrified
I just did my best not to cry
    Undivided watching the lake rise
Everyone I loved side by side

I looked out and saw family and old lovers
    All wearing the same alarm
    She slipped in some cracks
    Said acting is for lovers
    And pulled on my arm
Carried me back past old harms
We stopped and talk some memory
Finding our marks in poor graffiti
I felt empty I am so sorry

    I am so sorry
    I am so sorry

    She seemed interested, even forgiving
The world settled into a familiar spinning
We are visiting our thoughts on traveling
Spending some time out of the city

    Finding our roof, the 905
It was raining once and I took you in
We sat out and got soaked
Each other wearing one side of the headphones
    Falling back into the apartment
That for years I haven't leased
    Lighting candles and making shadows
I just wanted to hear you speak

I just wanted to hear you speak
I just wanted to hear you speak

You wear the weight of your sins, you are quick to add more in
Asking yourself to forgive, so quick to do again
Calling these streets with some heavy glow
One you never knew and one you will not know
    Standing up now
    I said do not go
I will miss you, I know
    She closes the door
    And I awoke

    3 A.M. I stare contemplating a movie
Looking to my window, looking for some stars
But I do not see anything
I look for a few more hours
I wonder if she is looking too
    Demons I long put aside
They are back in the room
    Demons I long put aside
They are back in the room

Well haha haha I am a demon, too
Well haha haha I am a demon, too
