Friend list is still blank

Since the update, my friend list has been blank till now.
I have tried logging out of the launcher and logging back in in vain.
I have tried reinstalling everything in vain.

I have tried installing on Windows 10 instead of Windows 7 and that works; my friend list shows up.
It was working fine on Windows 7 before the update.

    Friend list is working again after I removed write protection from 'programdata' folder.

    There's a hidden folder called 'ProgramData'; it exists under 'C:\ProgramData'.
    I changed the security option for the folder to deny all access for Admin; I did this to prevent adware popups, and apparently, also prevented friend list from functioning properly.

    To fix the problem:

    1. Re-enable access to the 'ProgramData' folder.
    2. Run the game
    3. Disable access to the 'ProgramData' folder.

    Only have to do Step 1 once.
