So the load might be distributed between the authoritative and non-authoritative host in a way that the authoritative host communicates with the peers on a different tickrate but it still needs to communicate with them to avoid cheating.
Well, I can't imagine a model where the non-authoritative host would not have to communicate with the authoritative one VERY frequently for sure, still, the rate is probably very far from the one between the clients and the non-authoritative. And I sincerely hope that this needed communications between the 2 hosts has no effect on the latency with the clients, it's just checks so you don't have to make the clients wait for the answers, just take the appropriate action when something is wrong.
There are still other reasons to think that the localization of the authoritative server is not the issue, the main one being that you can chose to face the problem (or not) as a solo player just by checking multi process. The server is not switching places ;-)
Thanks for the post by the way, very informative and instructive.

When the server must take actions it's important to know the answer because the packet order could be changed or you could just manually delay the connection or send false information to it if it wasn't aware of your current state.
So the authoritative part must also be in sync with the others even on a lower tickrate to reduce the load. This is the downside of such a system and thus the location of it can drastically affect the gameplay.
I used to stay logged in whole day before, but now only login for one hour to get the "Power of change". I tried to do some raids or dungeons but cant do more than one. Got sick of this lag. Hope this will be fixed soon, or i'll have to quit the game, maybe like other people did already. Good luck with your work.
This is verry simple: If you wanna do something, you find a way to do it, no mather what cost. If you dont wanna do it, you find an excuse....
But hey its "just" EU server, not a big deal...
Bad thing is its all we have.

thinking, you talk about publisher, or players?
or both xD

Its not like the players have much to do in this case +haha
What is worse, that so many people are so passive about the problem. There should be more people complaining to make nexon understand that we are not okay with the situation! I'm seriously going to bump this thread constantly until they fix the laggs!
Well I don't have any issues with lag so I can't really say "Fix this lag", then I'd be lying
The only times I've lagged since I've been back was because of my antivirus scanning which I had forgotten about completely
I do agree with everyone else that it does need to be fixed, but everyone pushing on the GMs is not going to make the process any faster. Especially if they're working on it, keep in mind the key word "if"
It's like the fps gets worse every update and I don't know if it works for anyone else, but Rise was supposed to fix multicore hosting or w/e but it's still broken for me and just disconnects me everytime I try to host with it...

Well are you getting more than 3 bars in a party and you not being the host, or better yet enable multicore and go solo do you get 4-5 bars? This is for Europe server btw.
And I've only seen people from Germany getting 3 bars, and party members getting 3 bars if the host is German.
I've been playing with someone from my own country in a party I never got less than 5 full bars while he was hosting , now it's 1-2 bars max.
And the title of the thread is self explanatory if you are from NA, you shouldn't come here and post stuff like there's no lag. Just saying that in general, not personally to you.

Here's some laggy footage from Neamhain runs in both weekends - even with different hosts.
As You can see, I am constantly below 3 bars, while I used to be 3-4. Animations are skipping, things don't toggle or do that too late, getting hit in middle of dodge. I am literally facetanking wtih my high def, but there are limits to that.
I have two screens and I always monitor my ping to a far host on it, and if there's a lag on my end - I see it straight away there. My connection was stable all the time during these.

Yup... Neamhain is a pain with this lag, and don't even get me started on GOB... It's a miracle for me getting through it without getting hit with 2 bars of connection.

It really takes the mood away to play in these circumstances.
Wait for dc
Rinse and repeat

If not then it can be a source of weird exploits.

Will our 100th run of Neamhain, turn out to be a lagfest?
Such a dissapointment. +sad

I'm sure people would be more patient with more updates and such

*Me being the host at the top
Also, will we get compensation for this?
Well that's weird. I call hax. Where are you from ,Narnia?
Is that with multicore or without? (Not that it matters, we lag with both)
