The ones from S1/S2, below level 80. What are those going to be useful for now?

Because the way I understand it, they won't be used for making equipment anymore.

But then how is low level equipment going to be crafted and upgraded?

    What about upgrading it?

I don't necessarily mind farming my equipment, as long as the game doesn't just "give" it to me without any effort, but what about the materials left over from before RISE? What do we do with them, just vendor them?

Do you like live under the rocks and go out once in a blue moon or what? Patch notes have been up for at least month+ now. Devcat handles you over low level gear and prohibits enhancing it. You are to rush to lv95 and rot in Dullahan raid until you bleed your Nesquik cave farming mats for the newest set.

And that's not what I want at all. I want to take my time with the journey, enjoy it, do the content, do all the quests, the oaths, the battle points and slowly work my way towards the end game. I don't want to be pushed and shoved towards the end-game because the game is trying to "rush" me.

Then it's not game for you once RISE hits live servers.

Well that's stupid if the game is really going this direction of "end game or nothing." I always enjoyed this game for the slow climb, the journey, not the destination.

Hence why there was and is so much backlash towards RISE

What about ores? Is there still going to be a need for iron/copper/silver/gold etc and mine bombs for nodes?

[ Changes to Material Items ]
We have made changes to all material items from mobs which are used in crafting level 80 or lower equipment.
Mob specific material items such as OO shoulder guard, OO tail, OO teeth, etc. are removed from the game.
Mobs will drop level specific material item according to the battle area and battle level.
6 new materials, Red Pigment, Yellow Pigment, 구분 (Dog ****? Separation?) Pigment, Fragrant Additive, Thick Additive, Transparent Additive are added into the game.
These are divided into Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced depending on the level.
    [ Crafting and Talent ]
We have removed most of the unnecessary material item s needed for NPC crafting.
After the patch, equipments for level 80 and under will be easy to get through item drops.
PvP and Item Composite will stay the same.
Item crafting and recipes through Talent skill will be changed.
Players can craft all the items that are not craftable from NPC anymore through their Talent skills.
As a result of the changes in material items, crafting through Talent skill will require a simple recipe.
As a result of the changes in material items, items will require a different proficiency as before.

This is taken from the (amazing)translation notes from Cube and Akkiina. Probably already stated in this thread, but it seems that most lower lvl mats are being removed, however there will be a particular use for the remaining low level drops through talents like armor/weapon-smithing. It seems like they are trying to streamline the talent system as well as give incentive to using it by making it a player-crafted item only as well as making it easier to get mats for crafting in general.

Please read the future content forum where the patch notes have been posted for a while. It says ore drop rates will be increased, so ore will still be needed.

Old mats like lak fangs or whatever will become useless, so use them up before the patch hits.
