Returning player, few questions

Hey, I'm an old Karok main that quit around the very end of the Elchulus raids. I'm not sure what level that was, but the Elchulus weapons were best in slot and the rarest items you could get. I played Cestus and Pillar.

I see that the game has gone through a humongous set of new patches. How does Karok fit in the meta now with his DPS?

Both weapons have gone from nearly joke-character damage to pretty much top tier after the revamps they've gotten over the years. Most people consider Cestus to be one of the top 3 classes now and Pillar isn't too far behind. There's a lot more boss variety in patterns/hitboxes/mechanics now though, and dps rankings don't really mean anything when there's almost always different a class or weapon that has it better depending on the battle in question.

Clash damage was greatly increased in the revamp that came with hero Rocheste. You do more damage if you hold the boss for at least 5 seconds, so you don't have to worry about falling behind too much if you go out of your way to use it.
