Character goal rewards should tell you the item reward before you claim them. This is VERY important as certain rewards like the 7 day cadet badge immediatley start ticking when you claim them.
An alternative would be to change the rewards so that they arrive in a box (like airtight cadet badges, etc), that way players can claim them whenever they want and only use them when they want to. The timer would only start when the box is opened.
