So I've been curious about this for years;
The background village people talking in colhen sometimes really really sounds like hebrew to me(My native tongue).
Is there some truth to it or is it a predisposed bias of mine since it's my native tongue?
I constantly hear phrases like:
"Mazal tov" = Congratulations/happy birthday
"Ze lo oved tov" = it's not working well
