Did you actually lose the item? It gives that message and then with it the enchant scroll is what was destroyed, so maybe you just looked at it too quickly? Nothing wrong with that. The way the message pops up I literally screen cap when I use a rune, etc., in case the item was somehow lost. Way too much text going on with those new pop ups.
