why does my character randomly turn their head?

sometimes while idle my dude will just focus his view towards something or turn his head and keep it turned for a bit

what it mean

    They're looking at something, either an enemy they can attack, an item to grab, or an object they can interact with. This will happen in town as well as the dogs that follow you around are targets your character can look at.

    I would like it if i could bring them to battle with me i've been looking after them for like 7 years now...

    I hate those dogs in colhen, they forever follow you in town and since the rise update you can't escape them by going to the docks.
    They even follow you into the SPRINGS!

    Have you tried leading them into the inn then running out with the doors closing behind you?
