A long long time ago in a galaxy far away, there was a discussion (now lost to my eyes) that requested search filters here on the forums. The reason there had to be a badge for using the search feature is because rarely anyone uses it, and that is because it sucks. Google does a better job of finding threads than the actual forum page. Even the old forums did a better job than the new ones.
I would like to be able to filter the search results by
1) Discussion Title - Show only discussion titles that have user-input key words in it.
2) Comments - Show only individual comments with user-input key words in it, and a link to the discussion that comment was made in.
3) User - Show only comments or discussions containing user-input keywords that were made by a specific user, and allow users to filter out comments and discussions made by specific users.
4) Date - Allow users to organize the search results by oldest to newest, and allow users to filter out results that are not within a user-specified month.
5) Likes & Insightfuls - Allow users to organize the search results containing user-input key words by greatest number of Likes or Insightfuls (or just both) to the lowest, and allow users to filter out any discussions or comments that don't have a Like or Insightful on them.
6) Views & Replies - Allow users to organize the search results by greatest number of views or replies to the lowest and reverse order, and allow users to filter out any threads that don't have a reply to them. If it seems reasonable, allow users to filter out discussions that do not fall within a user-input range of views or replies.
PS: Don't let this distract you from custom forum avatars. That takes priority.
