  • Vindictus 2018 Impressions Review

I would appreciate more if someone made an end-game review or a video comparing the 2010-2012 era with the current era emphasizing on the character development, the obtaining of skills, gear, stones, scrolls, etc., the ways to get them, how much effort it required to make a character ready for the new battles compared to how and what you have to grind for them now, etc.

It's not exactly what you asked for, but the OP's video sparked my interest in finishing a Vindi review I had started some time back but never found the motivation to complete, till now.

    Hopefully it's a positive contribution -

People are fed up and simply voicing their discontent. To dismiss it all as, "nonconstructive criticism" and go on begging us to trick new players into spending money is silly.

There are three distinct types of negative criticism on display in all of these doomsday threads -

    1. There's legitimately constructive criticism left by active players who are not content with the state of the game, rightly addressing the game's various points of failure and rightly reaming Nexon for being a money grubbing company that's infamous for letting its games wither. I'm all for this.

    2. There's attempted constructive criticism left by inactive players who haven't touched the game in potentially years, yet continue to creep the forums for one reason or another. These posts mean well but are generally fueled by nostalgia rather than fact (and tend to contain factual inaccuracies), which makes them a little less than useful for painting a proper picture of what the game feels and plays like today - but still good for sparking discussion.

    3. Finally, there's criticism which serves no purpose other than to inflame and mislead players via hyperbole and speculation intentionally presented as fact. Pure rhetoric designed to instill fear and doubt rather than to empower players to make their own decisions. This is healthy for no one. It's beneficial to no one. At best, this type of "feedback" goes ignored by people who know better - at worst, new/returning players read this kind of thing, accept it as fact and steer clear of the game without even giving it a try, which again is beneficial to no one aside from the shitposters who feel vindicated by their "success".

Of the three, I only dismiss one kind. Take your pick.

Aes is my fav S3 battle in general. I think it's a cool design.

This is why playerbase is so low mostly, guys with up to 2000 ADD are usually kicked or left dead if they dont have graces, especially in new dungeons and raids.

In my experience, this is incorrect. I haven't seen anybody get kicked from a boat for being poorly geared in a very long time - in fact, that kind of behavior is a relic of pre-Rise Vindictus, so your timeline is kinda backwards. Badly geared players don't even get kicked from Neam boats as long as the party has one or two carries.

Being left dead happens to everyone, geared players included. Just depends on how greedy the people in your party are.

couldnt pass 2800 with +13 Dullahan weapon, all armor is +10, couldnt get more

    Few things -

    - You have a +13 Dullahan weapon. That's more than what many active players manage to get and is easily the most frustrating part of the gearing process due to its cost, barring freak RNG. So grats, you already have the hardest part out of the way. Going above that is a luxury and not functionally necessary.

    - The 2650 ADD you get from a +13 weap and +10 armor is enough to do every single current raid in the game and pull your weight, especially when the +13 weap is a Dulla. In the context of later raids, this is of course assuming your gear is properly scrolled and your accessories are decent.

    - +12 armor keeps getting cheaper. If you don't want to enhance yourself, you can get +12 pieces for 100-110m if you're a little patient. Gold comes with time, depending on what markets you go for.

Anyways, I don't disagree that the ADD changes were overall terrible and had an adverse scaling effect on the game's difficulty, but there's quite a bit of hyperbole in your posts.

  • Connection bars ≠ lag

My guess is that the number of bars relates to latency (packet travel time) while the color of the bars relates to quality (packet loss, packet filtering, and other service quality indicators). You might equate this to cellular and WiFi signal strength (RSSI) and signal/noise ratio (SINR) - full bars (high RSSI) with a very low SINR will result in poor service, as will low RSSI with a high SINR. Both signal strength and quality are needed.

The above reflects my own experience. Whenever I have 1 bar, my inputs are always noticeably delayed (high latency) but the gameplay generally remains smooth and predictable (no loss). On the other hand, sometimes I have 4 or 5 bars and rubberband all over the place with highly unpredictable character movement (signs of probable loss or general circuit quality issues, irrespective of latency).

    Hope that helps.
